I am pleased to welcome you to our Conference! This regional event serves as a good example of the close collaboration between Central Asia and the European Union. As young leaders from various sectors— civil society, academia, media, and government — you play a vital role in shaping the future of our regions and I am happy that we could bring you all together.
The cooperation between Central Asia and the European Union is getting stronger. There have been high-level meetings, several sectorial events and the adoption of a Joint Roadmap last year to work more closely on five key areas. This includes a strong emphasis on sustainable water management and fostering people-to-people connections. Today, we are here to focus on these topics specifically.
Water management is not just an environmental issue; it is a cornerstone of our economic and social stability. We together face significant challenges related to water scarcity and climate change, and it is imperative that we address these issues jointly, as water knows no borders. Your voices, as young leaders, are crucial in shaping solutions that are not only innovative but also practical and inclusive.
We have over 100 young participants here today. This diversity is our strength. Each of you brings unique insights and experiences that can enrich our conversations and help us identify practical solutions to complex challenges.
Thank you for being here, and I look forward to an engaging and productive Conference!
